4 Month Update

Well, parenthood has set in and we find that time is of the essence and we just seem to have too little of it! Thus the lack of posts so I do apologize. Addison just had her 4 month well child appointment where she scored in the 75th percentile for her height and weight and the 25th percentile for her head. She still has a little noggin which is apparently not a problem according to Dr Mullen and we're certain it's all brains anyway. :-) She's 24 1/4 inches long and 14.5 lbs. 14.5 lbs!!!! Can you believe it??? It seems like it was just yesterday when she was 10 lbs and now she just appears to be tipping the scales more and more from one appointment to the next. Each day we realize how much she is changing and growing and here are a few things we've noticed:

  • She's learned that she likes to sit upright and gets quite frustrated when you put her back on her back. She appears to be doing abdominal crunches as she pulls her head forward trying to sit back up.

  • She's realized there is a world around here and is constantly looking at things around her and turning her head to the direction of Lucy barking, her mom's talking, the phone ringing, etc

  • She's learned that the toys hanging from her play yard move and make noise and has started reaching for them as well as holding on to her own feet

  • She's learned that when her mom's take her pacifier out and she's in her rocking chair that it usually means time for a bottle and she therefore pops open her mouth and makes hungry noises

  • She wakes us up in the morning with her joyful chatter after she's snoozed for 9-10 hours IN A ROW

  • She loves to be sung too, the ABCs being her favorite song and enjoys listening to her mom's reading "Goodnight Moon" along with other bedtime stories each night (she's actually started looking at the book!!

  • She now eats 6-7 ounces at a time

  • She's wearing 6-9 month onesies and is making her way into 6-9 month sleepers (her toes are at the end of the footie part

  • She typically wakes up each morning at the other end of the crib after she's kicked her legs and scooted herself from one end to the other

So, as you can see, she's changed a ton over the past 4 months which much, much more to come. We marvel each day at what a joy she is and how much we love the fact that everyone in our house is getting an average of 8 hours a night of sleep now that she's become quite a snoozer. She's scheduled to start rice cereal at 5 months, holding off until then because of the cow protein allergy she has now. We anxiously await the first spoonfuls of cereal though and will certainly have the flip camera set up to catch the scrunched up faces she's sure to make. She also starts daycare on Monday, January 26th which i'm terribly anxious about. I'm thrilled that she's been able to be home for 4 1/2 months and know that her daycare is the best in town it's just the thought of turning her over to strangers for 3 days a week! I'm sure every parent goes through this, i'll get over it and she'll love her days at St. Joe's the worker. My goal in 2009 is to be better about updating the blog so stay tuned!!

Cheers,

Mic, Deb and Addison
