Where will the baby kick next???

So, we've given up on watching television and have been spending our early mornings and late evenings watching the baby move about my stomach. The shorty is very, very, very active around 5:30am and 10:00pm. It's been really fun to watch the little jabs as they make their way around my stomach, some more obvious than others and try and guess where the little one will attack next. I had been having fluttering up until this week but we had never actually seen the baby's movement as it made my skin move. Very cool!

Cheers,
Mic

The 24 week appointment, Painting the Nursery and Deb gets kicked

We had our 24 week appointment on June 5th. My mom accompanied us to this appointment so she had a chance to hear the little heartbeat of her grandchild. It was very fun as usual and uneventful all in the same. The baby is measuring exactly where it is supposed to be, the heartbeat was 148, i've only experienced mild swelling (I did have to take off my ring though as it was getting very difficult to move) and my mom assured Dr. Berger that she would not bring me in to have him check my ankles for swelling. Apparently a lot of mothers of first time mothers have a tendency to do bring their daughter's in for this. We scheduled our next appointment for July 3rd, the day before we head up to Eagle River, WI for our annual vacation. The next appointment does involve drinking the "dreaded glucose drink" (as it was called by the nurse). It's a drink to check for gestational diabetes and is apparently pretty darn gross however I did hear that it tastes like very sugary organge soda and I LOVE orange soda. So, this could either mean the end to my LOVE for orange soda or the beginning of me pouring sugar packets into my orange soda. :-)

On Saturday, June 7, Deb and my mom painted the nursery. It's a lovely shade called "Ivoire", somewhere between a light yellow and an ivory. We went safe considering we still have no clue as to what we're having. We hung the lion print, the safari curtains, set up the crib, hung the mobile and put the bedding in it and placed the glider and ottoman in their new location in the room. We'll order the rug this week for the room and my mom is adding dots to the wall by the crib which will be awesome.

We also took the plunge and went to Target and Babies R Us to register. All I can say is holy cats, who knew that babies needed so much STUFF!!! Deb loved using the scanning gun though and we're thinking that we're pretty covered with the stuff that is on the lists. I'm sure they'll be something that we missed like a nose aspirator or whatever that little gadget is to get the boogie's out of the kids nose. :-) We bought a crib mattress and a new mattress for our bassinet and set both up in the room. It's pretty clear that we will soon be expecting a new family member in our house and it's definitely set in.

Lastly, Deb got kicked for the first time by the baby this morning. (June 9). We woke up early (our labs, Guthrie and Lucy, were up from the thunderstorms and wanted us to be up also) so we were lounging around, watching TV and waiting for the alarm to go off. I was pretty sure the little bambino was practicing high knees or taking target practice at an imaginary goalie so I put Deb's hand on my stomach and in no time, she was feeling the baby kick, kick, kicking away. I think it might have freaked her out a little bit! :-)

I'll post pictures of the nursery soon!!!

Cheers,
Mic
